There is an opinion that, the first bimetal coins were minted in
Ancient Rome.
This way of manufacturing of coins was applied as protection against fakes.
Such example of protection is the copper wedge in English farting 1625-1649 .
Presently
present revolution was release in 1982 of bimetal coins by face value in 500 Lire in Italy,
and also in San Marino
and Vatican.
Now it is difficult to find the state which is not having even one bimetal
coin, and France
has gone even further, having issued in 1992 first in the world threemetal a coin (Copper-nicel
an external ring both centre and bronze internal ring).
Are not
rare today and bimetal coin from precious metals (gold - silver) or with a
gold insert.
